Actors Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal married today after years of keeping their relationship private. The couple married in a civil ceremony at Sonakshi’s home, attended only by family and close friends. Sonakshi and Zaheer also shared the first photos from their all-white wedding.
The couple will throw a party at Mumbai’s Bastian, a celebrity favorite restaurant. Prior to the celebrations on Sunday, the couple held an indoor party for friends and family on June 20 and a mehendi ceremony on June 21. Sonakshi’s parents, Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha, attended the party as well.
Shatrughan’s attendance at the party put an end to rumors that he was dissatisfied with the union and would not attend the wedding. The gossip took steam when Shatrughan told Times Now that he was “waiting to be informed” about his daughter’s wedding and added, “All I can say is, aaj kal ke bachche consent nahin lete maa-baap ke, sirf inform karte hain (Nowadays, children don’t seek permission; they simply inform their parents).”
Later, the veteran actor denied rumors of a family feud and confirmed that he would attend the wedding. “I will definitely attend the wedding. Why shouldn’t or won’t I? Her happiness equals my happiness, and vice versa. She has the right to choose her partner and other wedding details,” he told Zoom, adding that Sonakshi and Zaheer “look very nice together.”
